Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid Getting a Few Exciting Upgrades for 2019

There's plenty for eco-conscious long-distance travelers here in Austin, TX to look forward to. In addition to the availability of pedestrian and blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assistance, and rear parking sensor features, the new Ioniq Hybrid is set to receive three major improvements.

For one, a Driver Attention Alert feature and High Beam Assist are now available safety features. The former will help you stay focused on the road, alerting you to deviations from your driving habits. The latter, we know as a helpful automatic tool for lighting the way with other traffic in mind. Secondly, Ioniq Hybrid will get enhanced voice recognition and a POI search database available in select trims, both server-based and provided by HERE&#trade;. The former will be a natural-language interface, meaning it can understand nearly any everyday prompt. The final perk: the Hyundai hybrid will see automatic emergency brakes, a lane keep assist feature, and smart cruise control added to its SEL trim. That means the ability to steer clear of accidents, stay on course, and remain safely distanced from other vehicles, standard.

Of course, 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid will incorporate much of what commuters, road-trippers, and extended vacationers have come to love in the mid-size car: its lightweight, yet durable design, superb estimated 58 mpg combined fuel economy rating, and excellent available accommodations, which include heated leather seating, dual automatic temperature control, and a power tilt-and-slide sunroof. But there's much more where these came from.

The hatchback's 1.6-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, for instance, comes paired with a 32 kW electric motor and a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, and together, they deliver a spirited 139 horsepower, ensuring a confident drive. Plus, Ioniq Hybrid builds in a six-speed EcoShift® dual-clutch transmission for smoother shifting than either a manual, automatic, or CVT. Then there's 7- and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system choices, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support for smartphone connectivity -- the list goes on.
