Hyundai Warning and Indicator Lights Illuminate When Attention is Needed

There are a lot of parts to a car, no matter which Hyundai model you have, and sometimes we need a little reminder when something is amiss. Fortunately Hyundai has included warning and indicator lights for such occasions.

What types of warnings and indicators are there?

Most Hyundai models feature the same lights and they all should not be ignored. Some of them are informing you that something is either low or has been left open, like the Trunk/Tailgate Open, the Low Fuel Level, and the Fuel Cap Open warning indicators, while others warn you or more pertinent situations, like the Engine Coolant Temperature, Engine Malfunction, Charging System, Brake, Oil Pressure, or Tire Pressure warning lights.

A few of the warning lights also include a persistent chime. The seat belt warning dings if a seat belt is left unbuckled. Everyone riding in your vehicle should be buckled securely for the entire ride and Hyundai wants to encourage you to buckle up so they employ an annoying chime every six seconds until you do. A chime will also sound once your fuel is too low and certain warning lights will ding when they appear.

What do I do if I see one of these lights?

If the warning/indicator light is one of those that are letting you know that something is open or empty than just simply do what it's asking and the light should go away. If it's a more serious warning light, schedule a service appointment as soon as possible, and, if any light begins to blink, pull your car over immediately. Any of these could result in permanent damage to your vehicle and will need to be checked out as soon as you can.
